Nasscom plans all-India BPO test
BANGALORE: In lines of CET, CAT and JEE, Nasscom in now proposing to have a nationwide common proficiency test for all the BPO aspirants. The software lobbyist is already working with various companies and universities to lay down the modalities for such a test that will cater to around 30 lakh graduates who pass out every year.
Nasscom president Kiran Karnik told The Times of India that the framework for this would be ready by February next year so that students who are graduating next year can take this test.

He said some kind of groundwork for such assessment had already been made by various state governments like Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh already, who in the past had conducted state-wide tests for BPO.
He said the exercise would open up the BPO talents across the country and enable the BPO companies to spread their reach beyond the tier 1 locations.
At the same time, Nasscom is planning to work with universities to augment the supply of students with right skills. "One of our efforts is to define the skill sets that these students should equip themselves with and take them to the university level for implementation," Karnik added. "With industry orientation, these students can be easily absorbed by the industry."
